I remember the days when my grandparents used to tell me that people had to write a letter or post a card to their beloved ones who live out of town before the internet, it took more than ten days to reach a particular person. It was difficult for them to contact their relatives. But nowadays technology enables effortless and timely communication, whether personal or business communication.

Do you see anyone without a smart device in his hand?? The answer would be NO. It became a basic human need. The morning of a common man starts with the beep of their phones.

Technology changes the globe into a virtual globe that gives equal rights of communication to all. A person living in a secluded area is no more alone or ignorant.

Following are the means through which technology changes communication:

Audio call





With the innovation of technology, audio calls have become more effective and timely. The caller doesn't have to wait for the operator to dial the particular number, your loved one voice is a click away from you.

The smart devices in your hand are capable of doing many tasks, do you want to make a doctor's appointment, it is a matter of a call. Luckily many phone call apps give you this opportunity free of cost. There is a long list of audio calling apps I am highlighting only five of them.

Google voice

It synchronizes with your Google account and provides you with completely free service. Just add the area code of your choice along with your number and here your go, you can talk for hours and hours. A unique feature of this app is, that it permits you to combine many numbers to call and text.

Facebook Messenger

Messenger allows you free video and audio call without the contact numbers of your friends. it is very easy to learn and run.

Talkatone

It's just like google voice, it allows you to call all around the world for free or for little cost.

Line

It allows both calling and messaging facilities throughout the world.

WhatsApp

It is another most renowned free calling and texting app. it needs your friends and family's contact numbers.

Video calling


The most advanced form of communication is video calls or facetime calls. It allows us to interact with someone, which will enhance interpersonal relationships vigilantly. During the time of the corona pandemic, video calls replace physical gatherings. There are many video calling platforms available, I am detailing only five of them;

Zoom

It is the most famous and easy-to-use platform for video calling. It is available for personal computers and smartphones also. It allows you to add up to 100 participants in 40minutes of calls for free. For long-haul calls, you have to get the paid version of zoom. The paid version also gives you cloud space to record the meetings.

It permits you to share screens and videos. You can also use a whiteboard with a pen and pencil for any explanation.

MS Team

It is beyond zoom, you can have it all in one platform. Ms team allows adding up to 300 participants in one call for 60m minutes in the free version. Its advanced features are scheduling and sharing the meeting. participants can customize the background. you can record the meeting in the paid version.

Google meet

It gives you access through the browser. In the the free version,, it allows calling up to 100 participants for 60 minutes. the paid version is called google workspace, it is specifically for businesses, and it has an advanced features that helps to decrease productivity.

Cisco Webex

It is also a browser-based platform.it is mainly for remote working. you can make a call of 100 participants for 60m in the free version. It also offers breakout rooms in the paid version. It enables the the raise hand option so one can take the poll. 

Skype

Skype can be used both online and through the app. It is preferable for personal use.

Despite all the benefits we get from the development of technology, Daniel said,
